So you are wanting to get your hair weaved, but you're confused because some days you see ladies who's hair weaves look fabulous, and some days you see ladies who's hair weaves look disturbing! Well I'm going to give you five things to look for before you decide to purchase hair for your hair weaving experience.
1. Everyone knows the saying "you get what you pay for". If you decide to spend $50 for a hair weave then please expect it to look like a $5 wig!
2. Your hair weave is only as good as the quality of hair you purchased.
Please don't be cheap about the hair you buy, if you are spending $15 to $30 for a pack of hair, please understand that you are most likely buying hair that is mixed with synthetic fibers.
3. All beauty supply stores are not created equal.
Be aware of the beauty supply hustlers! There are a vast amount of beauty supply stores that are selling hair that is not all %100 human, and is mixed with other synthetic materials. They are charging astronomical prices for less quality and bad performance. Always ask the supplier if the hair has its cuticle layers intact, if the hair sheds when cut, and if you can shampoo and condition the hair.
4. Check the weft on the hair that you are purchasing.
If the weft is thick and bulky then it may not lay flat when your stylist is doing your hair weave. A weft should be soft and bendable, not hard and stiff. Your weft should be able to lay flat for an invisible look.
5. Run your fingers through the hair.
If you run your fingers through the hair from weft to the ends and it feels coarse through out the hair especially on the ends, it is likely that the hair was not cut in one direction when it was manufactured. This is a tell tale sign that the hair will mat up quickly!
I hope this will help you find good quality hair, if you have any other questions please feel free to email me at dee@hairforweaves.com
